Heavy Young Heathens is getting a lot of love from MTV lately, and it’s no surprise with their updated take on southern-fried psychedelic rock. They’re similar to Kings of Leons with WAY bigger balls. The LA-based band recently released the Scavengers EP, which features “Figueroa Street,” a catchy, piano-laden ditty with a video showing a woman on a sort of scavenger hunt.

The September 21 pic was taken on September 20 when I saw this parked at Pierce College, where I’m now attending classes. I couldn’t help but take a picture because it isn’t every day that one sees a steamroller parked in a handicapped walkway.
I was up quite early on September 20 to take my grandmother to a doctor’s appointment. Prior to leaving the house I snapped this shot of the sun peaking over the neighbor’s house across the street.
The pic for September 19 was taken from under the tree in the front yard of my mother’s house looking up toward the sun. With summer on the wane here in the Northwest, I wanted to get a picture of the sun up before it’s too late.
The September 18 picture shows the bulk of my record collection. I’ve been listening to my vinyl more than usual lately, which prompted this shot.
Foo Fighters recently kicked off their North American Tour, and a hateful “church” that will remain nameless decided to picket the band in Kansas City. I’m not sure what is so bad about Foo Fighters, other than their recent promo video, but this is an hilarious way to respond. Note what the woman says at the very end. Perfect.
On September 17 I was repping for ASU even after they lost to Illinois, which would result in the team being dropped from both the AP and Coach’s Poll rankings. The school’s Pac 12 schedule starts next week when they host the playoff ineligible USC. The Sun Devils need to start conference play off with a win so they can keep on pace for the December 2 conference championship game.
