The new Handsome Furs album, Sound Kapital, is awesome, and is quickly moving up the ranks of my personal “album of the year” list. “Repatriated” is one of my favorite songs on the album, and you can get it from SubPop for free. The band, a wife and husband, synth-rock combo from Montreal, released their third album in June and I’ve been loving it ever since getting a hold of it. Dan Boeckner, also of Wolf Parade (another great band), really gets at the vocals on this album. Sound Kapital has better production quality than their two previous albums, and I it pays dividends for their overall sound. The two really pack a punch in studio, and this album is a stiff right hook to excellent town. You can also listen to “What About Us,” from the new album, below.
“Midnight City” has been out for a minute, but I just can’t get enough of it the last few days in particular, so I wanted to share it with you. M83’s new album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, is due out October 13.
You can download “Midnight City” for free from the M83 website.

The geniuses behind Chiddy Bang, Chidera “Chiddy” Anemage and Producer Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin, dropped another mixtape on Illroots.com today. These 15 tracks are chock full of Memorial Weekend good times. I have a feeling this will play as the soundtrack to many BBQs this weekend.

Death From Above 1979 made their triumphant return at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Though the band had previously played at this year’s SXSW they acknowledged on stage that this was their “first proper show.” I had never seen the band live, and they were one of the two absolute must-see bands for me (along with One Day As a Lion). I had a blast getting right up to the stage and rocking out with thousands of other DFA1979 fans. If you have a chance to see this band live, do not miss it. They are ridiculous.
Here’s the set list:
Turn It Out
Black History Month
Go Home, Get Down
You’re Lovely (But You’ve Got Problems)
Blood on Our Hands
You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine
We Don’t Sleep At Night
It’s no small secret that Kanye West headlined the final day of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It’s also no small secret that he killed it, which is like the top thing you can do.
Now you can enjoy the show, too. This is a surprisingly high quality audience recording. I don’t generally like audience recordings because the quality just isn’t there for me. This one, however, is close to soundboard quality.
You can download audio of the entire show at All the Way Live. The full set list is as follows:
Dark Fantasy f. Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver)
Can’t Tell Me Nothing
Hell of a Life
Monster f. Justin Vernon
Say You Will
Swagger Like Us
Run This Town
We Will Rock You
Through The Wire
All Falls Down
Touch The Sky
All of the Lights
Runaway f. Pusha T
Lost in the World f. Justin Vernon
LCD Soundsystem said goodbye for good on April 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The show was streamed live online and apparently recorded, too. This sounds like a soundboard recording, as it is very crisp and clean with only minimal crowd noise.
