Japandroids are one of my absolute favorite bands right now, and their sophomore effort, Celebration Rock, is helping to solidify that opinion. The album is a more concise collection than their debut album while still harboring the same frantic energy and lyrical wit. The two-piece features heavily fuzzed guitar sounds and manic drumming that set them apart from other two-piece bands. This is not a blues band like the White Stripes or the Black Keys; no, this is a rock duo, and they will melt your face. Or at least make you convulse to the beat (some may call it dancing).
Check out “The House That Heaven Built,” below. This song was also recently released as a limited edition 7″ on clear vinyl via Polyvinyl Records.
Celebration Rock is set to be released June 5, and is available for pre-order now from Polyvinyl and Amazon
.
