Today, strikegently.com was seized by ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement) and Department of Homeland Security. The site was a common destination for album leaks, and other copyright infringing downloads.

As the recording industry and television/movie industries panic about how to control the Internet sites like this will continue to be shut down. However, that will not slow the evolution of information in the digital age. It will only embolden the community that frequents such sites. A replacement for Strike Gently will certainly pop up, if not run by the same person/people, by someone else.

Napster should be a sign that piracy, as they call it, cannot be stopped. There will always be a new, better, faster way of getting what a person wants (Kazaa, Limewire, torrents, etc).

However, it appears the brand is not going anywhere, as @strikegently has been tweeting some today.

I’m quite a bit late with this one, but I’m sure it hasn’t ruined your day. This picture was taken in the currently dry City Creek Park. This time it’s a bit creepy walking through the park and not hearing the sound of water running.

As previously mentioned, Foo Fighters played a show last night in Santa Barbara and tracked their new album in its entirety. 64Piddy was smart enough, and nice enough, to record a song and post it to YouTube.

I’m a HUGE Foo Fighters fan, but this song isn’t great. I hope the rest of the album is better. But bad Foo Fighters is still better than most music out there.

What do you think?

Pretty disappointed that this “tour” is only doing one show in the US, and it’s not even a central location. The Big Four (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax) will take place April 23 at the Empire Polo Grounds, the same location as Coachella. They did 7 dates in Europe, but will only do one in North America. That sucks for metal fans all across the country.

Tickets for this show are on-sale now. Find out more at thebig4festival.com.

We had some snow here in Salt Lake earlier this week, and this is a picture of a few trees that are behind my building as they held the snow in the boughs.

Earlier today, @foofighters tweeted about a special rehearsal show the band is performing tonight. Moments ago, @antiquiet tweeted the above picture. The band had previously tweeted that they were practicing the performance of their new album front-to-back and conjectured when they might do that on a stage. It would seem that tonight is that time.

Judging by the above set list, the track list of the Foo Fighters seventh album will be something like this:

  1. Bridge Burning
  2. Rope
  3. Dear Rosemary
  4. White Limo
  5. Arlandria
  6. These Days
  7. Back + Forth
  8. Matter of Time
  9. Miss the Misery
  10. I Shoulda Known
  11. Walk

I hope that this warm up show is a sign of a future US tour. The band will be playing European festivals this summer.

Sleigh Bells, who will appear at this year’s sold out Coachella Festival, have debuted the new video for “Rill Rill,” and they’ve given the clip a unique Utah connection. Take note of the hoodie that guitarist Derek Miller is wearing throughout.

If you want of your own, head to heavymetalshop.com.

Green Label Sound, aka Mountain Dew’s music outlet, has been releasing singles from some great artists of late. Their most recent release is from an artist who’s EP made the top albums list last year, and is sure to repeat the feat with their debut album, due this spring. I wish the duo were playing Coachella, but hopefully they’ll do a full tour once they release their album.

Listen to “Cut Me Out” below.
